Summer Trends

Recently, in Chicago, several manufactures and vendors displayed their latest and greatest in the Kitchen and Bath industry at the KBIS show and as always I find it very exciting to look at the latest products being introduced into the market. It also set the format for the latest trends of the year. Qualified Remodeler listed the tope five trends as follows:

Number 1 - "Color is king, a trend toward the use of new colors and new mixes of colors."

Number 2 - "A changing view of storage, the trend is being driven by the overarching goal of achieving more openness and to create larger multipurpose spaces. Overhead units, such as storage racks, pot hangers, wine racks, etc are seen as blocking the line of sight and making rooms feel tight."

Number 3 - "A stronger connection to the outdoors, people very often want to feel connected with the outside, especially in the kitchen."

Number 4 - "The rise of practical, functional-based choices, clients are not necessarily expanding their space, they are trying to utilize the space better."

Number 5 - "The power of granite and quartz, granite and increasingly quartz surfaces continue to hold steady and allure to kitchen and bath remodeling."

From Qualified Remodeler:
Top three kitchen design styles:
1 - 24.2% Traditional
2 - 17.3% Classic
3 - 16.3% Contemporary

Diversity is the Over-whelming Trend in Design

The use of fabric on a wide scale can achieve that diversity. For example, you take the bright Mediterranean look in fabrics slightly washed and muted and you will have the fresco look. That look can be described as regal. A revival of elegance with that inviting casual look.

In fabrics, technology has given rise to complicated weaves and prints in a wide range of blends which in turn can be used to create the right look we seek. For a professional designer combining lines with forms, textures and colors can determine the outlook of the final product.
